چکیده
The current work explored additive friction stir deposition of AZ31B magnesium alloy with the aid MELD® technology. bar stock was fed through a hollow tool rotating at constant velocity 400 rpm and translating linear varied from 4.2 to 6.3 mm/s. A single wall consisting five layers each layer 140×40×1 mm3 dimensions deposited under processing condition. Microstructure, phase, crystallographic texture evolutions as function parameters were studied scanning electron microscopy including back scatter diffraction X-ray diffraction. Both feed material additively produced samples consisted ?-Mg phase. exhibited refined grain structure compared material. appeared have weak basal texture, while experienced strengthening this texture. showed marginally higher hardness provided pathway for solid state manufacturing Mg suitable structural applications such automotive components consumable biomedical implants.

متن کاملConstitutive Modelling of AZ31B-O Magnesium Alloy for Cryogenic Machining
The success of a FE model for metal cutting process is strongly dependent on the accurate characterization of the workpiece material, under similar conditions as those found in metal cutting. In this paper, dynamic shear tests using a Gleeble machine have been performed on 4 mm thickness disks of AZ31B-O magnesium alloy, using a special designed tool. In order to include the effects of the cryo...
متن کاملAnalysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...
متن کاملDuctility Improvement of an AZ61 Magnesium Alloy through Two-Pass Submerged Friction Stir Processing
Friction stir processing (FSP) has been considered as a novel technique to refine the grain size and homogenize the microstructure of metallic materials. In this study, two-pass FSP was conducted under water to enhance the cooling rate during processing, and an AZ61 magnesium alloy with fine-grained and homogeneous microstructure was prepared through this method. Compared to the as-cast materia...
